The Act specifies the powers of the Minister to impose and prescribe conditions for the regulation of fishing; register boats employed in fishing; determine times and seasons for fishing of specific fish species; determine necessary fees to be paid; and the different prohibitions applicable to import, transfer, and sale of live fishes, among others. The act provides for the more effective regulation, control, protection and improvement of fish and fishing in Botswana.
