National Fertilizer Policy

Ministry of Agriculture and Animal Resources, Rwanda

The national policy on fertilizer aims to create an enabling environment to facilitate private sector-driven effective and competitive fertilizer initiatives. It is hoped that the initiative will be capable of driving the government goals and targets for increased crop productivity. This policy is borne out of the need to address Rwanda’s current depleted soil condition caused by erosion and over-cultivation. It intends to adhere to the fertilizer agreement and target enshrined in the Abuja Declaration on Fertilizer for an Agricultural Green Revolution.
