Rwanda Competition and Consumer Protection Policy

Ministry of Trade and Industry, Rwanda

The consumer protection policy aspires to create an enabling environment for businesses and enterprises to thrive. Such an environment tends to foster competition with an accompanying increase in efficiency and economic growth for both consumers and producers. This policy seeks to not act as a vindictive exercise but to promote fair trade. This is in a bid to ensure consumers are not left at the mercy of a few firms and enterprises that take advantage of uncompetitive environments. These firms engage in activities such as price-fixing, collusive tendering, and speculative hoarding to the detriment of consumers.
