This is an Act to provide for the development, promotion and maintenance of standardisation and quality in connection with commodities and the rendering of related conformity assessment services, and for that purpose to provide for the continued existence of the South African Bureau of Standards (SABS), as the peak national institution, to provide for the repeal of the Standards Act, 1993, and to provide for transitional arrangements.
