An Act of parliament to provide for the procedure and ceremony for the assumption of the office of president by the president-elect, in accordance with article 141 of the constitution and for connected purposes. It provides guidance for the establishment and administration of the assumption of the office of president committee. The functions and powers of the committee shall be to facilitate the handing over process by the outgoing president to the president-elect, organise for the security of the president-elect etc.

An Act of parliament to make provision in regard to the powers and duties of chiefs and to provide for connected matters. The duty of every chief or assistant chief is to maintain order in the area in respect of which he is appointed, and for such purpose he shall have and exercise the jurisdiction and powers by this Act conferred upon him over persons residing or being within such area.

An Act of parliament to provide for the appointment of commissioners of assize and for matters connected. Regulation 3 & 4 defines the status, assignment and powers of commissioners. A commissioner of assize, shall, when engaged in the exercise of any jurisdiction exercisable by him in pursuance of this Act, be deemed to constitute a court of the high court, and he shall, during his period of office, have all the power, authority and jurisdiction of a judge of the high court and take rank and precedence immediately after the judges of the high court.

The act establishes and regulates the local government system in accordance with the Constitution. The act stipulates that existing districts shall continue as districts, and new districts may be declared by the President by executive instrument. The District Assemblies shall be responsible for local government and may, among other things, control local development, land allocation, and water resources.

There is the “National House of Chiefs”, and among them, the Act identifies different titles of those chiefs and their functions.

The act contains provisions and guidelines for effective regulation of towns, dispute management, and promotion of public health. It confers on the Minister, the power to define the boundaries of a town, and the powers to suspend the usage of the act wholly or partially in a town.

The act establishes the Local Government Service with the broad aim of ensuring effective and efficient administration and management of local government services in Ghana.

The nine hundred and thirty sixth Act of the Parliament of Ghana sets out to establish an efficient Local Government Service; provide for the establishment and administration of the District Assemblies Common Fund; to provide for a National Development Planning System; to define and regulate planning procedures of District Assemblies; to co-ordinate, facilitate, monitor and supervise internal audit activities within District Assemblies and for related matters.

A proclamation to provide for the definition of powers and duties of the executive organs of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia

This proclamation is applicable to; all general elections conducted in Ethiopia as well as local elections, by-elections, re-elections, and referendums; and citizens who have formed a political party to contest in elections; political parties along with their leaders, chairpersons, members, supporters, representatives, party or individual candidates; fronts, coalitions, alliances and mergers.

This proclamation specifies the provision of rights and duties of citizens when forming political parties and acting as members of political parties. It seeks to provide basic principles to be followed by political parties to enable them to act upon having legal personality.

This 2008 proclamation, numbered 613, ratifies the African Charter on democracy, election, and governance. This is in line with the adoption of the charter at the 8th Ordinary Session of the Assembly of Heads of States and Governments of the African Union at its Session held in Addis Ababa on 30 January 2007″.”””

“The 662nd proclamation of 2009 highlights the drive to provide an electoral code of conduct for political parties, candidates, members and supporters of political parties. This is to ensure that subsequent elections, which draw lessons from previous elections, are transparent, free, legitimate, fair, peaceful, democratic and acceptable by the people”.

This 2007 proclamation, numbered 514, ratifies the United Nations Convention against corruption. This is in line with the adoption of the charter at “the United Nations Convention at Merida, Mexico, on December 9 2003”.
