The framework highlights the strength, weaknesses, opportunities and challenges of the existing AMR/AMU governance system in the country. In this framework, priority pathogens and antimicrobial agents for surveillance purposes have been identified based on prevalence, incidence levels, zoonotic and foodborne illness potential and pathogenicity. In addition, the identified priority organisms have shown the potential to develop or are known to have developed antimicrobial resistance that is of concern to human, animal, crop and environmental health.
