Establishment of Statutory Measure: Records and Returns Relating to Macadamia Trees as well as Domestic Production, Processing, Imports, and Exports of Macadamia Nuts.

The regulations prohibit the sale of onions in certain areas of South Africa, as imposed under the sections of the marketing act of 1968. It spells out the powers of inspection granted to an inspector and the appeal procedure.

This Act serves as an amendment to the sea fishery act of 1988. Among other provisions, it allows for the payment of levies to the Republic of Namibia, alters penalties for certain offences, regulates the use of foreign vessels in the fishing zone, and creates an offence in respect of the transfer of fish outside a fishing harbour from a foreign vessel to any other vessel.

The statutory measure aims to compel breeders of day-old female parent broiler chickens and suppliers of packaging material, as well as people who act on their behalf, to keep records and report returns to the levy administrator. The measure hopes to create a level playing field for players and stakeholders by ensuring access to accurate and timely information to guide their decision process. The measure applies to day-old female parent broiler chickens bred for commercial use, and eggs for commercial purposes.

The act provides for the protection of the sea from pollution by oil and other harmful substances discharged from ships; it gives effect to the international convention for the prevention of pollution from ships of 1973, as amended by the Protocol of 1978. The provisions of the Marine Pollution Act apply to; South African ships; other ships within the country, its territorial waters, and its economic zone.

The notice amends the control measures of the Agricultural Pests Act. It substitutes table 10 of the control measures with a fees payable table.

The authorization applies to all land and water resources in South Africa. The authorizations are under the national water act of 1998. According to the act, “a person may only use water without a licence if the water use is permissible under the schedules, or if the water use is permissible as a continuation of an existing lawful use, or if that water use is permissible in terms of a general authorisation issued under section 39 of the national water act”. The authorizations do not affect the provisions of the national water act.

The cooperatives act makes provisions for the formation and registration of cooperative societies, the establishment of a cooperatives advisory board, and guidelines for winding up of cooperatives. It recognizes the importance of cooperative values on members of the society as it relates to; self-help, self-responsibility, self-reliance, and self-sustenance.

The amended regulations operate under the plant breeders’ rights act of 1976. The table detailing kinds of plants and periods of rights is substituted.

This research strategy aims to enhance the contribution of agricultural research towards attaining at least a 6 % economic growth rate through sustainable agricultural productivity, sustained competitiveness to ensure food security and eradication of poverty in South Africa. In addition, the implementation of this strategy aims to improve the sector’s efficiency and profitability, improve business opportunities; and ensure social upliftment and improvement of the quality of life for all the citizens of South Africa. It is guided by 16 principles mentioned in chapter two. It also provides information on governance and institutional arrangements in chapter 4.

Subject to the world heritage convention act of 1999, it is proclaimed that; the Mapungubwe cultural landscape is a world heritage site.

The policy is meant to be read along with the 2013 general policy on the allocation and management of fishing rights. The minister delegates powers of fishing rights allocation to officials of the department of agriculture, forestry, and fisheries. The objectives of allocating fishing rights include: to broaden meaningful participation, promote food security, and facilitate the recovery of over-exploited fish species. The policy sets out the criteria guiding evaluation, allocation and management of fishing rights in the traditional line fish fishery; it is to serve as a guide for a delegated official.

The act provides for the establishment of the National Ports Authority and the ports regulators. The act aims to promote productive ports in South Africa, for maximal contribution to the growth and development of the country, establish appropriate institutional arrangements to support the governance of ports; and to promote and improve efficiency and performance in the management and operation of ports, among others.

The regulations amend the rules for the conduct of matters before the national consumer tribunal in relation to procedural requirements; to make Regulations for matters relating to the functions of the tribunal, and rules for the conduct of matters before the tribunal.

The regulations are subject to the water services act of 1997. It sets out details around basic sanitation, basic water supply, interruption in the provision of water services, quality of water, sewerage system, use of effluent, and water services audit among others.

The measure is administered by the HORTGRO services as a means to fund necessary projects and innovations for the development of the pear industry. It seeks to ensure the availability of information to all stakeholders in the industry, to guide informed decisions. The measure applies to pears destined for export and/or domestic fresh consumption.

These norms apply to the hunting of all wild and alien animals. They are set out to ensure standardization of hunting methods. The specifications for hunting detailed in the notice include; minimum bullet weights for rifle hunting, minimum bullet weights and barrel lengths for handgun hunting, permissible bows for bow hunting, minimum requirements for bow hunting, minimum requirements for falconry, criteria to be met by gamebirds for inclusion in provincial hunting proclamations.

This is an amendment of regulations 2 of the mineral and petroleum resources development act of 2002. It relates to the application for permits and rights made in terms of the 2002 act.
