The government of Ethiopia recognizes the importance of investments, both local and foreign on the development of the country’s economy. The export trade duty incentive scheme is therefore proclaimed under Article 55 (1) and (11) of the Constitution of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia.

The customs proclamation highlights the resolve of the government to modernize customs law in Ethiopia to international and regional standards. This is in a bid to curb the issues plaguing legitimate trade in the country.
