The government of Rwanda has the goal of modernizing agriculture in the country by 50% come 2020. This goal is driven by the government’s desire to address farm efficiency and productivity as it affects the livelihood of the rural citizens and the population as a whole. One of the constraints that have been identified to be limiting efficiency on the farm is the usage of crude farm implements. This policy highlights the need to raise labour productivity through the combination of mechanization and usage of good agricultural inputs. It contains strategies to improve mechanization in the country by 25% come 2015.
