A law to establish the Bayelsa State Emergency Management Agency and a Local Government Emergency Management Committee for each Local Government Area in the state and other matters connected therewith. The functions of the agency are to formulate policy on all activities relating to disaster management and co-ordinate plans and programs for efficient and effective response to disasters in the State, develop and maintain an electronic database, co-ordinate and promote research activities relating to disaster management in the State, collate data from relevant agencies to enhance forecasting etc.
