This policy highlights the government’s strategy aimed at preventing and controlling non-communicable diseases in Botswana. The strategy include the promotion of healthy lifestyles and creation of enabling environments; treat and mitigate impact of disease through health systems reorientation, early detection and provision of quality, people-centred services that begin at the primary care level; monitoring, surveillance and research in order to understand burden of disease, identify innovative solutions and evaluate impact of interventions; and accelerate country response to NCDs, through strengthened national prioritisation, coordination, multi-sectoral action and partnerships.
