This parliamentary Act provides for appropriate marketing and distribution of breast milk substitutes; provides for safe and adequate nutrition for infants through the promotion of breastfeeding and proper use of breast milk substitutes, where necessary, and for connected purposes. It establishes a committee (national committee on infant and young child feeding) to advise the cabinet secretary on the policy to be adopted in relation to infant and young child nutrition. Part III of this document prescribes the advertisement, promotion, labelling of packages and educational and informational materials.
