The regulations provide for the inspection of export slaughterhouses and introduce a system of identification of cattle for purposes under the Diseases of Animals Act. Inspection of export slaughterhouses may be carried out by the Director of Animal Health and Production or any veterinary officer, to ensure that meat hygiene at the slaughterhouse conforms to best practices and to control livestock identification and trace-back records.
