Kenya released the Forest Act (2005) to articulate reforms in the sector which included participatory forest management through the engagement of local communities, establishment of the Kenya Forest Service (KFS) and community forest association. The policy provides a range of measures to improve the sustainable management of forest resources to bring forth an equitable share of the accrued benefits to Kenyans.
