The policy acknowledges the important role played by forest resources in the livelihood of Rwandans. This reliance has led to the degradation of these resources over the years. It also points at recent benefits being enjoyed by the forestry sector as a result of political goodwill geared at developing the sector. This policy thus seeks to guide activities towards making the sector flourish further for sustainable benefits to all segments of the society. It prioritises driving active private sector participation.
