The regulations apply to all special nature reserves, national parks, and world heritage sites in South Africa; it also applies to marine protected areas that have been included in a special nature reserve, national park or world heritage site. Among others, it lays out details relating to biodiversity management and conservation in these areas; use of biological resources of national parks and world heritage sites; access; commercial activities allowed; use of water areas, land, and airspace; bioprospecting; norms and standards; and general prohibitions.

An amendment to the convention on international trade in endangered species (CITES) regulations of 2010. Alterations centre around powers and duties of the management authority, import and export of specimens, issuance of permits and certificates, and fees payable.

The regulations and its amendments are under the plant improvement act of 1976. The amendment substitutes the fees payable table.

The amended regulations operate under the plant breeders’ rights act of 1976. The table detailing fees payable with respect to plant breeders’ rights: 1 April 2008, is substituted.

Water conservation and demand management in the National Strategy Framework includes the protection of water resources and thus the management of water quality. This strategy identifies opportunities to reduce unnecessary water use and improve efficiency and provides guidance to stakeholders in the forest sector on achieving conservation and demand management.

The notice operates under the national environmental management: integrated coastal management act of 2008. A “public launch site is defined as a site where a vessel may be launched by members of the public in the coastal zone, but excludes a privately used launch site”. It is directed that the management authority shall list public launch sites where vessels can be launched, and identify a management body responsible for overseeing the affairs of each site.

The amendment makes changes related to persons required to keep records and returns reports, the specific records to be kept, and names and particulars of import and export mechanisms to be employed.

The rules are subject to the veterinary and para-veterinary professions act of 1982. It contains a definition of services allowed to be executed by animal health technicians, and their principles of professional conduct. They also specify the procedures that may be performed on animals by animal health technicians without veterinary supervision.

The regulations implement the alien and invasive species component of the national environmental management: biodiversity act with regards to their control. The minister of environmental affairs shall be the issuing authority for permits related to carrying out restricted activities on aliens and invasive species. Activities termed restricted are highlighted.

The act provides for control over the sale and export of certain agricultural products and other related products. It is expressed that the minister in charge of agriculture may prohibit the sale of a prescribed product that fails to meet specified class and grade, quality standards, guidelines for marking, labelling, and packing, and required product content.

The regulations apply to holders under the Mineral and Petroleum Resources Development Act of 2002. They regulate the method for determining and making financial provision for the costs associated with the management of environmental impacts from prospecting, exploration, mining or production operations through the life of mine and that may become known in the future. Holders must determine and make financial provisions for the rehabilitation and management of negative environmental impacts from mining operations.

To fulfil its mandate and meet its commitment to the national strategy for agricultural development, the department of agriculture, in this document set the following as its medium-term strategic objectives: guide and support equitable access to resources for agricultural development; enhance the economic performance of the sector; ensure sustainable natural resource management and use; and promote and support the participation of black people, women, youth and the disabled in agriculture.

The integrated coastal management act establishes norms, standards, policies, and plans for integrated coastal and estuarine management in South Africa. It aims to promote the economic and sustainable conservation of the coastal environment, to maintain the natural attributes of coastal landscapes and seascapes.

The regulations are made under the national environmental management: protected areas act of 2003. “No person may undertake any scientific research within the
Marine Protected Area, except on the authority of a scientific research permit issued by the Minister”. The general restrictions within the marine protected area are listed in the schedules.

The statutory measure applies to potatoes. It pushes to compel stakeholders of cotton to register with cotton South Africa. It sees registration as a means to ensure the availability of information to all players in the industry, to enable them to make informed decisions. The measure lists out the parties mandated to register, and the registration process. Cotton South Africa is appointed as an administrator of the statutory measure.

The regulations amended relate to; naming guidelines for divisions, districts, and provinces; representation of necessary authorities as signatories; capability of concluding transactions; and application for cancellation of bond registration, among others.

The rules outlined in this notice are; services pertaining specially to veterinary professions; conduct of veterinary professionals; advertising and promotion of services; animal transport vehicles; standards for veterinary facilities, mobile animal services, house/farm calls, and hospitals; and inquiries into professional conduct.

An amendment of the medicines and related substances control act of 1965. The provisions of the amendment include; making the council a juristic person; prohibition of sales on medicines not registered; regulation of inspector powers; council’s powers to acquire and appropriate funds; and supply of affordable medicines.

The notice amends the Cooperatives Act of 2005. Among others, it: provides for associate membership of cooperatives; provides for the categorical distribution of primary cooperatives; provides for audit and independent review of cooperatives for transparency; provides for the voluntary winding-up of cooperatives; provides for the establishment and functions of cooperatives tribunal, and to substitute the advisory board with the advisory council.
