This is a manual for clinics, community health centres and district hospitals. The main purpose of the guidelines on maternity care is to give guidance to health care Workers providing obstetric and anaesthetic services in clinics, community health centers and district hospitals. It provides summary of key recommendations from the saving mothers report 2002-2004.

The directions serve as a guide for the registration of general communal and general small waste disposal sites, location, permissible waste, planning, design, construction, and commissioning, access control, operations, monitoring, and other maintenance activities involving sites.

The notice amends the medicines and related substances act of 1965. “Among others, it provides for the appointment of one or more Deputy Registrars; it provides for a term of office of members of the Pricing Committee; it provides for the delay of the coming into operation of provisions requiring a licence before a person can compound and dispense or manufacture medicines, or act as a wholesaler or distributor, and it provides for regulations relating to the marketing of medicines”.

These guidelines have been compiled using both international and local information to prevent mortality; prevent disease progression and development of severe malaria, reduce morbidity; eliminate parasitemia and stop further transmission and limit the emergence and spread of drug resistance.

The notice amends the control measures of the Agricultural Pests Act. It inserts definitions and control measures in the schedules. The control measures inserted include; prohibition relating to the occurrence and removal of pathogens and insects, and exemptions from prohibitions.

The regulations specify rules relative to the application for and the granting of an authorization for the carrying out of activities identified under the relevant sections of the environment conservation act of 1989. Applications shall be made provincial or local authorities and must, in certain cases, be referred to the minister.

This serves as an amendment to the national water act of 1998. It affects textual improvements, makes provisions for the correct designation of the department and minister, and amends the authority of the water tribunal, among others.

The regulations are subject to the foodstuffs, cosmetics, and disinfectants act of 1972. It stipulates limitations related to the use of processed foodstuffs for human consumption.

The strategic framework sets out a comprehensive approach for the provision of water services in South Africa, as it relates to small community water supply and sanitation schemes in remote rural areas, and large regional schemes supplying water and wastewater services to people and industries in the largest urban areas. It enshrines sustainability guidelines, health education, economic development and sustainable livelihoods, institutional reform, water boards, and the private sector.

An amendment of the table in Annexure A that highlights foodstuff, preservative, and quantity permitted.

The notice publishes the list of all protected trees belonging to particular species specified in the schedules. It further states that: no person may cut, disturb, damage or destroy any protected tree or possess, collect, remove, transport, export, purchase, sell, or donate any protected tree species or products derived from it except as approved by an authority.

The entire Namaqua Fossil Forest marine protected area is zoned as a single controlled zone, which is determined using the World Geodetic System (WGS) of 1984. The regulations stipulate that no scientific research within the protected area shall be carried out except with a research permit issued by the Minister. It lists out the general restrictions within the protected area.

The notice amends the control measures of the Agricultural Pests Act. It substitutes table 1 of the control measures with a fees payable table.

The act applies in the Prince Edward Islands, and to the exclusive economic zone and continental shelf of the Republic; It equally binds all organs of state, and is to be read alongside the principles enshrined in the biodiversity act, and the national environmental management act of 1998. The objectives of the act include; provision for the declaration and management of protected areas, to manage and conserve the biodiversity of the Republic, and to provide for continued existence of national parks in South Africa.

These guidelines provide a mechanism for the standardization of clinical education in nurse training in South Africa. The document provides the re-establishment of clinical education and training platforms in health establishments/facilities to standardize the content and quality of clinical nursing education and management.

Animal feeds covered by the policy include; encompass feed ingredients, feed additives, pet foods and feeds intended for cattle, sheep, goats, horses, poultry, pigs, wild animals, fresh water and sea fish, birds, dogs and cats, ostriches and other companion animals. The publication is a multi-sectoral national policy that provides the framework for the regulation and legislation of animal feeds in South Africa. It provides for an effective and efficient regulatory system that will ensure matters related to feed ingredients and animal feeds result in safe feed and food products.
