The statutory measure provides a statutory mechanism for producers, brokers, traders or wool buyers, processors, importers and exporters to register with Cape Wools SA. Along with the statutory measure for records and returns, a national wool database capturing the details of stakeholders along the value chain will be created.

The act provides for the establishment of the South African Council for the property valuers profession. The powers of the council shall, among other things, include the registration of property valuers, the supervision of the practice of property valuers, and education in property valuation. The categories of registration available for persons are professional valuer, professional associated valuer, and candidate valuer.

The regulations address issues related to sterilizing plants in South Africa, which includes; registrations, appeals, sterilization processes, invoices for by-products, hygiene requirements, and inspections. It is stated that an application shall be made by persons residing in the country or legal persons with registered office in the country; must be accompanied by the application fee and a veterinary inspection certificate, and must be accompanied by the facilities plan and order of operations.

The amendment takes the form of redefinitions for textual correctness and alterations of annexes to the regulations

This policy recognizes that traditional artisanal fishers were excluded from the long-term rights allocation process under the General Policy on the Allocation of Long-term Fishing Rights, 2005, and the effect that this had on Small Scale fishing communities. Therefore, it provides a mechanism for allocating fishing rights to small scale fishing communities and ensures equitable access to marine living resources for these communities.

Agricultural remedy is defined as chemical substances, biological remedies, mixtures, or combination of any such substance or remedy used for the destruction, control, repelling or prevention of any undesired virus, bacterium, alga, nematode, fungus, insect, plant, vertebrate, or invertebrate. The remedy is also used as a plant growth regulator, defoliant, desiccant or legume inoculant. The registration procedure is discussed in detail.

The regulations are subject to the agricultural product standards of 1990. They specify classes and standards, parking and marking requirements guiding the sale of potatoes in South Africa. It specifically states that potatoes shall not be sold except standards outlined in these regulations are met. The regulations are baseline standards for potatoes sold in South Africa, and not potatoes for seed production purposes.

The Regulations prohibit the manufacture, importation, exportation and sale of polycarbonate infant feeding bottles containing Bisphenol A. Bisphenol A is an industrial chemical that is mainly used in combination with other chemicals to manufacture plastics and resins.

Amendment of the National Parks Act of 1976. There is a change of name of the board from “National Parks Board” to “South African National Parks”. The amendment also regulates the powers of the board, addresses forfeiture issues, and allows for cooperation with individuals and organizations to aid the board’s course.

An amendment of the statutory measures for records and returns as it pertains to maize and wheaten products

The act allows for the valuation of properties specified in the sections of the act. Among others, it provides for the valuation of properties identified for land reforms, it pushes to regulate and monitor valuation processes, and it provides for the establishment, functions and powers of the office of the Valuer-General.

The regulations and its amendments are under the plant improvement act of 1976. The amendment substitutes the fees payable table.

These Regulations amend the Land Survey act of 1997. It inserts a new table of contents, and it mainly concerns “methods of measurement and survey, procedures for temporary and final approval of a survey by the Surveyor-General and connection of a survey to the National Co-ordinate System”.

The Regulations specify the requirements that must be complied with to allow the sale of fresh vegetables in the country. It is stated that fresh vegetables before being placed on the market must be classified, packed, labelled and inspected as prescribed. The regulations exempt imported fresh vegetables from requirements regarding standards, grading and classification if they comply with the Codex Alimentarius, UNECE or OECD standards.

The purpose of this policy is to facilitate a coordinated approach towards achieving an ecologically, socially and economically sustainable agricultural sector in South Africa that supports the government’s commitment towards poverty alleviation, food security and economic development. It emphasizes the creation of a prosperous agricultural sector while protecting the national biological and physical resource base, as well as enhancing human health and well-being.

The act establishes the national regulatory framework for the electricity supply industry. The national energy regulator is made the custodian and enforcer of the regulatory framework; the powers and duties of the custodian are outlined in detail. The act stipulates that licensing and registration are the tools for the regulation of generation, transmission, distribution, trading and the import and export of electricity.

The regulations are pursuant to the Foodstuffs, Cosmetics, and Disinfectants Act of 1972. Alcoholic beverage is defined as “any drink ordinarily consumed by humans or purporting to be suitable or manufactured or sold for human consumption with an ethyl alcohol content above 1ml per 100mI (one percent (1%) alcohol volume)”. Warnings against alcoholic beverages are highlighted in the annexure of the regulations, and it is specified that container labels must contain one of the health warnings in any of the South African official languages.
