An amendment to the 2008 national environmental management: integrated coastal management act. It clarifies coastal public properties and ownership of structures on the properties, addresses provisions on reclamation, removes the power of exclusion of areas from coastal public property, limits renewal of dumping permits, and replaces coastal concessions and leases with coastal use permits, among other alterations.

The amended regulations operate under the Plant Breeders’ RIghts Act of 1976. The table detailing fees payable with respect to plant breeders’ rights: 1 April 2015, is substituted.

The minister extends the compliance and transitional measures period set out in terms of the regulations relating to foodstuffs for infants and young children made in terms of the foodstuffs, cosmetics and disinfectants act of 1972.

Agri-hub serves as the administrator of the measure. The measure hopes to create a level playing field for players and stakeholders.

The measure is subject to the marketing of agricultural products act of 1996. The statutory measure applies to peaches and nectarines destined for export, import, or domestic fresh consumption. It seeks to ensure the availability of market information to all stakeholders in the industry. The measure will be administered and implemented by HORTGRO services, a company established in terms with the companies act and operates within the purview of the Dried Fruit Technical Services (DFTS).

The regulations provide rules for the sale of wheat products in South Africa. It spells out the restrictions and guidelines for the sale of wheat products in the country. It also outlines the different classes of wheat products and the standards for each of them.

The statutory measure amends the statutory measure for records and returns in respect of maize and wheat imports and exports; the statutory measure for records and returns in respect of maize, oilseeds, sorghum and winter cereal; the statutory measure for registration of certain persons in respect of maize, oilseeds, sorghum and winter cereal.

The regulations place several restrictions on the sale of poultry meat in the country. It also classifies and grades poultry meats, prescribes standards for grades and portions, requirements for packing and packing containers, as well as the specification of indications for classes, grades, and packers.

It includes farmers’ rights, intellectual property and sustainable use of biodiversity, exploitation and biopiracy of indigenous resources etc. Chapter four outlines the objectives of the Plant Breeders’ Rights policy to provide an internationally recognized system for plant variety protection; stimulate economic growth by ensuring the availability of plant varieties for South African agriculture and contribute towards the sustainable use and conservation of plant genetic resources for food and agriculture.

The act provides for the protection of the sea from pollution by oil and other harmful substances discharged from ships; it gives effect to the international convention for the prevention of pollution from ships of 1973, as amended by the Protocol of 1978. The provisions of the Marine Pollution Act apply to; South African ships; other ships within the country, its territorial waters, and its economic zone.

The measure hopes to create a level playing field for players and stakeholders by ensuring access to accurate and timely information to guide their decision process. The measure applies to day-old female parent broiler chickens bred for commercial use, and eggs for commercial purposes.

Establishment of Statutory Measure: Records and Returns Relating to Macadamia Trees as well as Domestic Production, Processing, Imports, and Exports of Macadamia Nuts.

This Act serves as an amendment to the sea fishery act of 1988. Among other provisions, it allows for the payment of levies to the Republic of Namibia, alters penalties for certain offences, regulates the use of foreign vessels in the fishing zone, and creates an offence in respect of the transfer of fish outside a fishing harbour from a foreign vessel to any other vessel.

The regulations prohibit the sale of onions in certain areas of South Africa, as imposed under the sections of the marketing act of 1968. It spells out the powers of inspection granted to an inspector and the appeal procedure.

The cooperatives act makes provisions for the formation and registration of cooperative societies, the establishment of a cooperatives advisory board, and guidelines for winding up of cooperatives.
